The new year starts with the first Member Event of the cocoa platform. The focus of the meeting are the seven innovative value chain projects, which were approved by the Expert Committee in October 2018. In collaboration with SECO, NGOs and research institutions, private chocolate companies aim to promote the sustainability in cocoa origin countries such as Ghana and Ivory Coast through innovative approaches. The goal is to improve the living conditions of cocoa farmers and their families and to promote climate smart cocoa production. In order to measure the progress and impact of the projects, common indicators are currently being developed. The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Framework will be adopted at the next General Assembly.
