The Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa and the German Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Friday, January 19, 2018, at the International Grüne Woche in Berlin to intensify their cooperation in the future. Both initiatives represent an industry-wide commitment to a sustainable cocoa value chain for present and future generations. Linked to this is the improvement of the living conditions of cocoa farmers and their families, as well as the protection of natural resources, especially of the forest. Both initiatives have also set themselves the goal of increasing the share of sustainably produced cocoa. Specifically, the letter of intent now signed calls for mutual support in international activities and cooperation with other equal initiatives as well as mutual exchange of information. The representatives of both initiatives did not exclude further partnerships at European level, such as the Dutch cocoa platform, which was also recently established.
